Rivian Cuts About 4.5% of Staff Ahead of R2 SUV Launch
Rivian laid off more than 600 employees — about 4.5% of its workforce — in its third staff cut of 2025 as it restructured marketing, vehicle operations, and sales and delivery teams ahead of the launch of its more affordable R2 SUV. CEO RJ Scaringe told employees the changes were needed 'to profitably scale our business.' Affected workers were placed on paid administrative leave until a December separation date.
