The Ladbrokes and BetMGM owner confirmed it would cut about 500 roles — roughly 2% of its global workforce — across product, technology and corporate functions (not retail) to offset a UK remote-gaming-duty hike from 21% to 40% that adds ~£200M in annual costs, plus tighter regulation and competition from prediction markets. Entain's shares had fallen almost 40% over the prior year; the cuts sit alongside a €425M sale of a 20% stake in its Central & Eastern European arm.
