Google Cuts Hundreds in Platforms and Devices Unit
Google laid off hundreds of employees in its Platforms & Devices division, which oversees Android, Chrome, Pixel, and Nest hardware, following a voluntary buyout program it had offered the same team in January 2025. The company said the reductions were part of an effort to operate more efficiently after merging its Android and Chrome teams the prior year. Google did not disclose a precise headcount for the cuts.
