Walgreens to Cut 646 Jobs in Distribution Center Closures
Walgreens said it would lay off 646 workers as it closed distribution centers in Orlando, Florida (324 jobs) and Dayville, Connecticut (322 jobs), part of a plan to cut at least $1 billion in costs. The cuts came alongside a broader retrenchment that included winding down underperforming stores and clinics under its VillageMD unit. The pharmacy chain has been under pressure from retail theft, declining foot traffic, and competition from Amazon Pharmacy.
